I just noticed that this little page of rants is 2nd in popularity - thanks everyone! Hope you enjoy my Chuck Wendig-sans profanity-rants. (Personally, I think he's Steven King under a pseudonym, but I digress.)
Since one of the tags is autobiography, I suppose I should give you an insight to one of the personalities that drives this here stuff.
I'm a writer, but I'm not published (and there goes half my faves!). Why? I write because
- The voices in my head tell me to.
- I feel that I have a story to tell that others might find interesting.
- I'm a control freak.
Two is the politically correct reason. The real reasons are one and three.
I usually write paranormal stuff - prefer urban fantasy, and I'm trying to get into the whole paranormal romance genre but if I have to write the books I'm reading, I'm just going to slit my wrists and be done with it because some of this is so far-fetched. I've been reading fantasy since I was a kid, sci-fi, tried my hand at gothic romance (which my mom liked).
I'm not here to toot my own horn. I'm not here to give you "Top Ten Reasons Why You Should Write About Your Fish". I'm not here to sell a book. I'm here to write, to tell stories, to let you know what's worked for me and to let you know you're not alone if you think you're crazy.
All of us writers have to be a little bit manic-depressive if we're going to be any good.
