What I Don't Understand

Recommend

This world we live in, why is it like this? Why do we hate? Why do we want power? Why do we always have to come out on top. I am thirteen-years-old. I attend a Catholic School. I am not like my classmates. They want popularity, I want to learn. I want to learn about them. They are truly a mystery to me. Not just people my age. The teachers stupefy me. They treat us like inferiors, but they are no better than the children at each other's throats for distinction.

No one accepts anyone for who they are.

Why can't we just accept that people are different? That people aren't copies of ourselves? I just read the news of another teen suicide because of bullying. Gay bullying. He was only a few months older than myself. I've never been bullied because of my sexuality. People have questioned it, but I am straight. I can honestly say however, I have never bullied another person.

Shocker right?

That's the problem isn't it? It's a shock that a teenager has never bullied.

Am I wrong to think that this isn't what the world should be like?
