Makani

Makani strolled down a dirt road, making her way to a small town. Disease seemed to run rampant in the towns and cities, and she needed to restock on some herbs she couldn't find locally.

The sound of the trees comforted her. Ever since she was small, the forest was family; and not just because she was a dryad.

Ah yes, I need to go back someday.

A twig snap snatched her out of her thoughts. Knocking an arrow and crouching low, Makani scanned the brush. Her hair stood on end as her muscles tensed.

Nothing.

She stood slowly, keeping her bow ready.

"I'm probably just tired," she muttered to herself. Makani began walking once more.

Another twig cracked.

The End
