Three Years From Now

Note: this is a song about what could happen in the next three years, not just for me, but for anybody. But it's also about how fast life goes by.

Three Years From Now

In the next three years, I could move home,
Learn to drive and somehow get a job
I could lose and find some friends
And maybe they could find their someone to love

There'll be stress, stress, stress and hugs and kisses
Broken hearts but granted wishes

Mark my words and listen
Mark my words, you'll see it through
All you can do is all that you can
Then just wait and see where that takes you to
Take my metaphorical hand
We'll take a trip to where you might stand
Three years from now

In the next three years, you could tie the knot
And maybe hold your baby in your arms
Start or finish university
And start to discover who you are

In no time you'll be wondering how
You're suddenly an adult now

Mark my words and listen
Mark my words, you'll see it through
All you can do is all that you can
Then just wait and see where that takes you to
Take my metaphorical hand
We'll take a trip to where you might stand
Three years from now

Then it'll go like this:
We'll be in our thirties and thinking of how quick the years went past
Then our teenage grandkids walk through the door
And we're seventy four
And wondering how they grew up so fast

Mark my words and listen
Mark my words, you'll see it through
All you can do is all that you can
Then just wait and see where that takes you to
Take my metaphorical hand
We'll take a trip to where you might stand
Three years from now

The End
