The Breakup Game

Note: Basically, it's a song a wrote about a situation I've recently been in. It started off as a kind of bitter rant to myself, and then I started putting a tune to it for no apparent reason. So yeah.

The Breakup Game

Tell me something, baby
Do you have to blank me
When I smile and wave at you
You walk on by

I know you're trying to get through
Not the best of situations
But for the sake of sanity
Could you just try?

The rules are: make sure
You don't sit or stand near or beside me
There's no good reason you should catch my eye. We
Can't act like we ever were together

And if we're both standing in a group
I can't direct my words at you
There's no reason I should want to
And make sure you are prepared for this forever

At some point I'll go crazy
And one day you'll thank me
When I break and bump into you
"Sorry, hi!"

Then you'll have to snap out of it
And acknowledge my existence
If you don't either you or I
Will cry

The rules are: make sure
You don't sit or stand near or beside me
There's no good reason you should catch my eye. We
Can't act like we ever were together

And if we're both standing in a group
I can't direct my words at you
There's no reason I should want to
And make sure you are prepared for this forever

Ooh, face to face
Ooh, alone in this place
Nothing shattering the silence
Then we both just walk away

The rules are: make sure
You don't sit or stand near or beside me
There's no good reason you should catch my eye. We
Can't act like we ever were together

And if we're both standing in a group
I can't direct my words at you
There's no reason I should want to
And make sure you are prepared for this forever

The End
