Run Away

Note: Strangely, this came to me when I was getting a handheld hoover out of my nan's caravan. I have no idea why. It's definitely a thin-air song. Moving on. I don't normally think like this (which is why I usually say "the speaker"), but this is very much a girl's song. It would work for a guy, but nowhere near as well as it does with a girl. But that might be because it was written by a girl. Anyway, the speaker thinks/knows/has realised that they are hurting their partner, and thinks they would be better off without them.

Run Away

My darling, listen to me, I
Need some time alone
You know that I really love you
But I can't hurt you if  I'm on my own
Honey, I don't mean to be
The spoilt little girl that I've  become
I treat you wrongly, dear. It's killing me
I can't let this go on

And I need you, and I care for you
Sweet baby. I know the feeling you hide
That I kill you inside each day
Save yourself. Run away

Darling, please, please don't you cry
One day you'll find someone who
Is right for you. In a few years
You will have forgotten me
I know that you will find someone
Who'll help you have a happy future
And leave the past behind

And I need you, and I care for you
Sweet baby. I know the feeling you hide
That I kill you inside each day
Save yourself. Run away

Baby, baby. Run now, run now.
Honey, leave me. It's goodbye now.
If it was meant to be, it would have been
So baby, leave me. Run now, run now.

And I need you, and I care for you
Sweet baby. I know the feeling you hide
That I kill you inside each day
Save yourself. Run away

The End
