Last Resort Argument/Begging

Note: This came to me when I was pretending to be Ed Sheeran in the mirror at my nan's. I couldn't remember the words to the song, so I just made 'em up, but then I got the tune wrong and discovered the chorus to this song. Basically, what's going on here is that the speaker's partner is leaving them, and they've tried everything they can to get them not to. Eventually, they resort to just begging.

Last Resort Argument/Begging

You try and you try. Cry and cry.
Try to change your personality, but
Give me one example of when that's worked
And example where nobody gets hurt
You're on your knees, you're begging
Not sure enough for careful treading
Any more. Any more

I'm trying to apologise
For everything that I've done
To you, but it's gonna take too long
So I'll sit, and I'll wait
'Cause I've run out of time to hesitate
My words. Please, please forgive me

You try and you try. Cry and cry.
Try to change your personality, but
Give me one example of when that's worked
And example where nobody gets hurt
You're on your knees, you're begging
Not sure enough for careful treading
Any more. Any more.

I'm trying to find a decent way of saying
How sorry I am
But you don't wanna know, and that's the price I'm paying
For my lies and my secrets
But there's no point now in keeping it
To myself. Please, please forgive me

You try and you try. Cry and cry.
Try to change your personality, but
Give me one example of when that's worked
And example where nobody gets hurt
You're on your knees, you're begging
Not sure enough for careful treading
Any more. Any more.

I've said that I'll do everything for you
Well, there's nothing left to do
And I'm not the only one
Who ended in the wrong
I've taken my unfair share of pain caused by you

You try and try. Cry and cry.
Try to change your personality, but
Everybody involved always ends up hurt
On your knees, begging
Not sure enough for careful treading
Any more. Any more
Any more. Any more

The End
