After I told my parents everything - from jealousy to scrupulosity to self-harm to perfectionism - I waited for my parents' reaction. They'd had their arms around me the whole time, and now, they told me how they felt.
And they told me that they weren't disappointed in me. They were glad I'd told them what was going on! They understood my jealousy of Idina and encouraged me in my faith. They told me that they didn't look at me any differently than they had before. They told me they loved me and would never stop loving me.
Best of all...they said that I didn't have to be the perfect daughter - not only to them, but to God, too.
My weary heart was at rest.
