Have any of you ever seen the movie "Letters to God"? It's about this little boy with cancer who has this tremendous faith in God and writes letters to Him every day. The storyline is quite a bit more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it. It's a spectacular movie. It really is. I just wasn't in the right frame of mind at the time.
We watched it at Idina's party. Worst mistake ever made.
See, the little boy had an older brother who was often neglected, due to his younger brother's cancer. At one point, the older brother is explaining his bitterness toward the little brother with cancer because he feels like nobody really cares about what he is going through. He said he hated his little brother because of all the attention he was getting.
Those words caused the emotions I'd been stuffing inside myself to surface. I almost had to leave the room because I was insanely close to crying. Hello! That's me up there on that movie screen, exclaiming my bitterness toward Idina's attention!
I wonder if anyone noticed my turmoil, because I sure was getting slapped in the face over there.
