Name: Dyl Norton
How old were you when you started writing? When did you start?
I would have been about 8 when I started expanding on writing. School would have definitely been the reason I started, my teacher encouraged creative writing. I will be forever thankful for that.
What was your first story, could we read it?
My first story... Honestly, I cannot remember what my first stor... Oh I do. It was a short, very short story written when I was about 10. It was, what could be described now, as an Indiana Jones/Van Helsing fan fiction. Only in a kids mind would those two link...
And no, no you may not read it.
What are you working on right now?
A few things. A Doctor Who/Sherlock cross over collaboration. Another collaboration set in the fantastic game-world Tamriel, created by Bethesda. A couple of super hero related collaborations as well.
Solo wise the situation has hit a barrier in the road. I have a few unfinished stories, a couple I really like, but just cannot find the mindset I had when I wrote the bits of them that I have.
Where do you get inspiration?
My source of inspiration varies from, no joke, a crumb to personal experiences to other stories and books, sometimes even certain TV shows. I don't like to think that I am looking on the world through closed eyes, I like to think I can see more than I need to inspire me.
When is your favourite time to write?
When I know I have time to myself, time to think. So that is generally just before I am going to bed. So I tend to loss sleep quite often.
Do you prefer colaborative works or Solo, do you like both?
For sheer enjoyment, collaborative. One also knows that at least somebody will read your story if it is in a collab, so there is a little safety blanket there.
But solo does have its own enjoyment, mainly because you're not restricted by others. In a collab the story is not quite a blank canvas that you fully control, but with a solo story you can tell the tale of Francis the Martian Elephant that got a purple tan whilst sunbathing on Jupiter after work on an Earthly Friday evening. Sure the readership might not be great, but you have fun writing it, and that is what matters most.
How did you find Protagonize, are you on any other popular writing sites (Booksie, smashwords, wattpad ect.)
Luckily for me, I did not even have to look for Protagonize. When I was staying with a friend ( Username Colm ) he could not resist showing me and I have been here since. I owe Colm a lot because he gave me the location of this site on the internet and it is just fantastic.
Anything else that you would like to share about yourself or your writing?
Ehm... Not sure. If anyone wants to know anything feel free to ask. I'm an open book... Get it? :)
