How old were you when you started writing? When did you start?
Lord, I can't even remember when I started. My Mum and Dad told me I was writing when I was a child with a crayon and sugar paper. Since then I've never really stopped, I started writing as a full time hobby around the age of twelve...maybe thirteen. I can't really remember. It was so long ago and there has been so many stories and novels since then they all tend to blur together, but I just remember sitting down at the computer and typing out my first ideas and being amazed at how much I enjoyed the experience. It's a feeling I still get now when I start a new story. And I love it.
What was your first story, could we read it?
I think...it was a story about a mouse that I wrote in Primary School. But the first real thing I remember writing was a story I had to write for an English assignment in the first year of high school. It was a story about Pirates and the high seas! (Jerry Bruckheimer stole my idea damn it! Not that I'm bitter or anything...) But what I consider my first real story was a novel called The Scorpion, it was the first thing I wrote that was completely my own idea and to this day it’s still one of the works I'm most proud of. Compared to my writing now I think it's not as polished as it could be, but I'm keeping it and one day I'm going to re-write it all, its my first finished novel so therefore has a special place with me. And no I don't think you could read it. Its mine! Not yours! Sorry...got defensive there...
What are you working on right now?
Right now I'm working on my private novel that I don't put up on Protagonize and I actually sent off to the publishers. Still waiting for feedback but I don't have my hopes up for anything back. As for Protag works I'm working on a horror/thriller story called Dust. I've never done works in either genre so I thought I'd step out of my comfort zone and try something new, wanting to push my boundaries and all that.
Where do you get inspiration?
Anything. Everything. Other books, T.V, the news, life, my friends and just sometimes from the darkened corners of my imagination where the sky is purple and story ideas float about like clouds.
When is your favourite time to write?
Erm...whenever really. I write whenever inspiration strikes and sometimes I just have days where I want to do nothing but write and write and write. I also like to write at night, no one calls, no one knocks on the door and nothing disturbs me during the twilight hours.
Do you prefer collaborative works or Solo, do you like both?
I love them both for different reasons. Colab works introduce you to new authors who could give you new prospective on your own works, and you can get inspiration from their works. I've been introduced to some amazing authors on this site whose opinions I respect massively. As for solo works I find protag a great place to grow ideas and get some feedback from other authors, as well as just expand my boundaries and try things I wouldn't normally try.
How did you find Protagonize, are you on any other popular writing sites (Booksie, smashwords, wattpad ect.)
Not a clue. I think I was just googling writing sites and stumbled onto this. And no protag is my only writing site.
Anything else that you would like to share about yourself or your writing?
Erm.......no not really.
