Lighter

This I wrote on my daughters third birthday, having at the time had trouble with my ex partner and not able to see her on this day.

A piece of the puzzle doesn't seem to fit.

The closest I get to you is a photo, and slowly I'm losing it.

I hear you screaming when I'm not even near,

I wonder what I'd say to you, if you were stood right here,

But I'd feel lighter,

A weight would be lifted, I'd lift you up so high and

Feel lighter,

And people would see I love my little girl.

Sticky silence, none of which feels right.

I would see your ginger face, green eyes, and all would feel alright

Yeah I'd feel lighter.

This weight would be shifted, and lift you up so high and

Feel lighter,

So the world could see how I'm proud of my little girl

You should be easy to see,

It shouldn't be hard to stand next to you, hold hands with you,

Your mother can't keep me from you forever girl,

A major part of me,

I've not gone far, I'm right here when you need me most, I've an open heart and open arms

dear girl.

I promised myself  I would smile today all day,

Despite the fact I'm not allowed near you, and it's your third birthday

So I'd feel lighter,

Though this weight could be lifted, I'd lift you up so high and,

Feel lighter,

The whole world would see how much I love my little girl

You should be easy to see,

It shouldn't be hard to stand next to you, hold hands with you,

Your mother can't keep me from you forever girl,

A major part of me,

I've not gone far, I'm right here when you need me most, I've an open heart and open arms

dear girl.

The End
