Nightbutterflies

At the end of this long enchanted evening

There will be no keepsake no souvenirs

You’ll go your way I’ll go mine

These woods will lie still once more

But I will walk this path over and over

Looking for the butterflies promised to me

Nightbutterflies

Catch these nightbutterflies

Nightbutterflies

Nightbutterflies

Nightbutterflies

Hold them so softly gently in your palm

Never to be set free

A hand I can not hold

Love I can not call my own

And your taxi’s waiting

Your eyes only see me at night

Just another enchanted evening

Daybreak always comes too soon

And she’s waiting

Here I am

Here I am chasing

Nightbutterflies

Catch these nightbutterflies

Nightbutterflies

Nightbutterflies

Nightbutterflies

Hold them so softly gently in your palm

Never to be set free

If you could only stay silent I wouldn’t have to feel a thing

But you promise and you know you shouldn’t promise

You can only give me the night

Don’t fool yourself

Sooner or later

Hopefully later

This love will burn out or fade away

Because I want so much more

I want butterflies long after your gone

Nightbutterflies

Nightbutterflies

Nightbutterflies

Hold them so softly gently in your palm

Never to be set free

The End
