My Happy Place

My happy place has high expectations, and it isn’t everyone’s favorite place to be.
Nevertheless, it is a source of great comfort and motivation for me.
It is a school.
I can see the chalkboard.
I can smell the pencil shavings.
I fill my brain with knoweledge and creativity.
I am in a home away from home.
Education is a priceless gift that cannot be diminished or replaced.
I don’t need ruby slippers to help me find home.
Because I know that despite my battles, including anxiety issues, “it’s all good” as one of my teachers says.
Someday the dreams will reside and my heart will be free forever.
I hope and pray that forever might be soon.
