Lil Baby MockingbirdMature

New song I wrote about how much custody battles affect the children involved.

Lil Baby Mockingbird

(Verse) Lookin’ through the eyes of a lil baby mockingbird/ his world dies locked in his room and he cries/ cuz he knows this is surely to get ugly pretty quickly/ when two parents are fighting for custody of a lil baby mockingbird/ every night he prays to the Lord for three wishes/ one to be heard two for the problems to be cured and three for the love of his family to be re-administered/ he’s only a child and doesn’t have anything that’ll rattle his shackles/ cuz he doesn’t wanna have anything to do with this battle/ but he’s caught in the middle/ and bein’ forced to grapple with the thoughts that hackle his mind/ and tackle all the happiness inside yeah he usedta horseback ride/ but now he doesn’t even have a saddle to straddle/ so every day when he wakes up he feels so alone like he’s tryna swim upstream without a paddle/ only eight years old but he’s already forgotten how to smile/ constantly wonderin’ if this is really all worthwhile/

CHORUS
Because angels can’t fly when a lil baby mockingbird can’t stop the tears from fallin’ from his eyes (oh no) ‘cause his parents are at war destroyin’ each other for their lil baby mockingbird

(Verse) Failin’ at school cuz all he can think ‘bout is when will the courts finally be able to sort out/ where he’s gonna be livin’/ set to make his first appearance and as he’s leavin’ overhears his father sayin’/ “where did we go wrong? We started out just fine/ now I’m rackin’ my min’ tryna figure out how we ever let it get to where we’re at today/ because we got the marriage got the mortgage and gotta child with another one on the way/ but somehow we can’t find it within ourselves to say hello at the beginnin’ of every day/ and at the end of it we end up layin’ inna different bed and it’s kinda got me thinkin’ we’re at a crossroads bend/ ice cold glances is all we send I think our bridge is burnin’ is it too late to have it mended/? Makin’ bullshit excuses justa stay out late shawty I never meant it/ but this last fight just cemented it so baby just admit it I know you want out so here’s the paper sign it and submit it/!”

CHORUS
Because angels can’t fly when a lil baby mockingbird can’t stop the tears from fallin’ from his eyes (oh no) ‘cause his parents are at war destroyin’ each other for their lil baby mockingbird

(Verse) Nine months later and he has a lil baby sister that he’ll never see livin’ overseas/ cries himself to sleep every night but in his dreams he still sees one big family livin’ in harmony and peace/ but the fantasies that give him a release end up causin’ him more pain then they can ease/ because they deafen his cries and pleas so every night he falls to his knees and asks the Lord to grant him three wishes please/ one to be heard two for the problems to be cured and three for the love of his family to be re-administered/ because when you’re lookin’ through the eyes of a lil baby mockingbird/ you realize that when his world dies he stays locked in his room as he cries/ cuz deep down inside he knows this is surely to get ugly pretty quickly/ when two parents are fighting for custody of a lil baby mockingbird/

CHORUS(X2)
Because angels can’t fly when a lil baby mockingbird can’t stop the tears from fallin’ from his eyes (oh no) ‘cause his parents are at war destroyin’ each other for their lil baby mockingbird
