I struggle to resurface,

Caught in the undercurrent of your hate,

The watery lies filing into my lungs

I always knew you’d be the death of me.

 

I take a breath,

Trapped here by confusion,

And I’m pushed under once again,

And I know you’re not sorry,

I’m drowning in your lake.

 

C- But just as I thought I had nothing left to live for,

He came along and saved me,

He saved me from the ice cold lake,

He took my hand and I took his,

He saved me from your darkness

 

I kick towards the light,

Drenched with the fear,

What is the point?

I never knew there was more to all of this

 

I give up,

The watery body my final destination,

An ironic Haven,

At least that was my intention

He took my hand and I took his,

Your lake is just a pond,

And I’m so much more than before

Cos I never thought there’d be a new start,

I never realised this could come to an end.

 

I’ve reached the surface,

He gives me a kiss of life

He runs away with me

I never really knew there was a life beyond the lake.

When I had nothing left to live for,

He gave me his hand and showed me,

There’s life beyond the lake,

There’s a life with hope,

He showed me hope… hope… hope…

 

I lay down,

Lightened of a heavy burden,

Ended of a worthless struggle,

Settled from a useless case,

Oh oh oh

Because I never knew to look for life beyond the lake.
