It Takes CourageMature

I was talking to my counselor when I mentioned that for the first time in ages, I'd knelt to pray a few weeks ago.
He said it was an act of courage.
Courage? No! Well, at least, that was my reaction. But the more I think about it, the more I realize that
every single step we take away from lies we've believed for so long is an act of courage

It Takes Courage

Verse One
Oh, the lies have been drummed into my brain for ages
They've been a part of my identity for ages
That believing anything else seems wrong

But if I would dare to take a step away from them
And if "vicious lies" is how I'd dare to label them
These "truths" I've believed for so long

Chorus
It takes courage to step away from a mindset
To kneel and pray after months of silence
Or to pick up that fork and take another bite
 Or to stop self-inflicted penance
It takes courage to push away the blade
Or to "simply" tell the lies "No!
I don't believe in you any longer!"
It takes courage to tell them to go!

Verse Two
Oh, the voices are at it again, telling me to fall
I know it'd be so easy to just believe them and fall
But I will be stronger this time!

When everything fails and only choices are left
The choice to turn right, the choice to turn left
I will not let lies make up my mind!

Bridge
Courage might come in a shaky voice
Courage might come in an unsure choice
Courage might come with a mountain of fear
Courage might come with an ocean of tears
Courage might come with a nervous heart
Courage might come with scars on its arms
Courage might come with nothing new
Courage might come in the form of you

The End
