Redemption RemainsMature

For awhile, I dealt with self-harm. There were only a few instances in which I actually did visible damage, but those instances were enough to tempt me to self-harm again when times are really rough.
The other day, I had the urge to self-harm.
I scribbled on my arm with black ink, instead.

 Redemption Remains

Verse One, Part One
Oh, so simple
Oh, so lovely
Blood's seduction
Will be the end of me
Oh, so tempting
Oh, so alluring
Telling lies of
Self-harm's "curing"

Verse One, Part Two
Staring at my fair-skinned arms
Seeing vacancy made for self-harm
Oh, how easy...
Oh, how foolish...

Chorus
Oh, how relieving to dare to scrawl
In bloodred ink, my unheard call
The delicacy of dripping pain
The whisper "Come, find me again!"
But, no! I will not yield this time!
Though panic yet will turn me blind
Instead, I write in the scars' place
Two simple words: "Redemption Remains."

 Verse Two, Part One
See the blood
See the ruin
What is this
That I am doing
Upon the fragile
Feel the sin
Bright red on
Ghost-white skin

Verse Two, Part Two
 Staring at my fair-skinned arms
Seeing vacancy made for self-harm
Oh, how sensual...
Oh, how deathly...

Chorus
Oh, how relieving to dare to scrawl
In bloodred ink, my unheard call
The delicacy of dripping pain
The whisper "Come, find me again!"
But, no! I will not yield this time!
Though panic yet will turn me blind
Instead, I write in the scars' place
Two simple words: "Redemption Remains."

Bridge
My skin is tarnished, but not by pain
Instead, it is marked with "Redemption Remains."

 Chorus
Oh, how relieving to dare to scrawl
In bloodred ink, my unheard call
The delicacy of dripping pain
The whisper "Come, find me again!"
But, no! I will not yield this time!
Though panic yet will turn me blind
Instead, I write in the scars' place
Two simple words: "Redemption Remains."

The End
