Giving Thanks

I am thankful or autumn memories and springtime hopes,

For a gentle wife and for sons who have already raced far beyond the distance that I've run,

For a labor that I love and for a reason or my life,

For dreams fulfilled and for having a few still left to go,

For a song to sing and for a scene to paint,

For souls I have known and for souls I have yet to know,

For thoughts that have given birth to words and for the thoughts that words will never know,

For the feel of Indian summer and for the scent of October fires,

For all the laughter and all the tears,

And for the passing of the years,

I give Thee thanks.
