Forty-Two (or Sorry for the Inconvenience)

Inspired by the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Staring

Off into the darkness

Off into the void.

Suddenly

You hear a strange music

Hear a strange sound.

You pick up the book

Lying on the table.

And you read the words on the cover:

DON'T PANIC.

Don't Panic,

It's just the Universe calling you home.

Hello, it's the Universe here,

Can you take a note?

Some day you will open your mind

And then you will see.

Destinies are intertwined,

Planets will collide.

But when you can open your mind

Then you will see.

"Does not compute"

He thought, miserably

Sitting on the snow banks

of the Forgotten Planet.

His only company

A ship's computer,

Which had just commited suicide.

Don't panic,

It's just a Sirius Personality bot.

Hello, it's the Universe here

Can you take a note?

Some day you will open your mind

And then you will see.

Destinies are intertwined,

Planets will collide.

But when you can open your mind

Then you will see.

Eddies in the time continuum

Eddies in the plane of space.

The war machines are on the rise.

Don't panic,

It's just Bistromathics at work.

Hello, it's the Universe here,

Can you take a note?

Some day you will open your mind

And then you will see.

Destinies are intertwined,

Planets will collide.

But when you can open your mind

Then you will see.

We're sorry for the inconvenience.

We're sorry that you had to wait.

We're sorry that the Multiverse is such a screwed up place

But there's nothing really we can do.

You'll have to trudge along

As you always have done.

Things will work out in the end.

This the Last Message to the People

From the Big Guy Himself.

We're sorry

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello, it's the Universe here,

Can you take a note?

Some day you will open your mind

And then you will see.

Destinies are intertwined

Planets will collide.

But when you can open your mind

Then you will see...

The End
