Familiar Stranger

What do you see when you look in the mirror?

That familiar stranger

Those eyes, that nose, those lips, that face

That you know so well, but you just can't place

Out of a crowd, she's the one that stands out

To you - do others notice her too?

/ What do they see when they look in the mirror?

Their own familiar strangers

What do they see when they're staring at you?

Tilting the glass to get a better view

But reflections can't show what's inside

The only part of you that you can hide

/ She's looking out through your eyes

It's her whispering when you sigh

It's her pain when you cry

/ Is she the one you don't quite recognize?

The girl that doesn't show through every lie

But given time

You might not know her all that well just yet

But she's your familiar stranger, and you've already met

/ Remember her, because she'll never forget

The End
