I wrote this on my blog when I broke up with one of my boyfriends because I needed a pick-me-up. But beside that, this is how I feel about love and reading.
When you're reading the novel you love you feel like you're on a cloud, exploring different worlds. You want to spend every aching moment with that book because you want to learn everything you possibly can about it, you want to learn what makes it interesting, why you love it so much in the first place... you never want it to end.
But, like with a relationship that does not last, when you finish a book you love you feel like you're broken because that companionship is finished, and going back and re-exploring it may seem like a good idea, but it's probably best that you take some time to adjust before re-reading the story you loved so much. It will never be the same though. Some of us will never experience the story the same way the second time around, or the third, fourth, etc.
And just like ending a romance with a novel you love, you have to remember that there are other novels out there. Though you wish you could explore your beloved novel all over again for the first time, you have to recognized that that novel taught you something valuable: That there will be more books that touch you in the same way.
There will be heartbreaks, within and outside of the world of novels, but there will always be a recovery.
