Army Brat

Army Brat  (19/9/2011 - i rewrote an old song i found)

The plain cardboard boxes litter my room
The time is tick, tick, ticking away
before we move again
Before we leave to another place, Oh
Before i lose all my friends
All I've come to know as close to home

I bet it sounds so interesting to you
Someone who's maybe stayed in one place
Moving about
Having a dad in the army
Don't get me wrong
he's a true hero
But it's still a hard life
being an army brat

Oh, if everything is safe and sound behind these high fences
Then why is it i feel so unwelcome
Why do i have to be trapped this way
how can these secure walls
Prepare me for the outside

I bet it sounds so interesting to you
Someone who's maybe stayed in one place
Moving about
Having a dad in the army
Don't get me wrong, he's a true hero
But it's still a hard life
being an army brat

Dad's taking off again
He'll be gone for ages
Is it safe?
I don't know
All i know if he's going all the time
All i know if this army barracks i'm stuck in

I bet it sounds so interesting to you
Someone who's maybe stayed in one place
Moving about
Having a dad in the army
Don't get me wrong, he's a true hero
But it's still a hard life
being an army brat

Oh, It would be safe to say
These walls don't help
It would be safe to say
I have no idea what a real home is
I haven't got a childhood friend
I've hardly got a memory of where i grew up

I bet it sounds so interesting to you
Someone who's maybe stayed in one place
Moving about
Having a dad in the army
Don't get me wrong, he's a true hero
But it's still a hard life
being an army brat

I wish i has stayed in one place
I wish i had kept all my old friends
But if we had never moved
I guess i wouldn't have become who I am
Everything in my past
Has made me this person
And honestly
I like this person, this army brat

The End
