"Dreamcatcher" by Stephen King

Recommend

Rating: *****

Once upon a time, int the haunted city of Derry, Maine, four boys stood together and did a brave thing. Certainly a good thing, perhaps even a great thing. Something that changed them in ways they could never begin to imagine.

Twenty five years later, the boys are now men with separate lives and separate troubles. But the ties endure. Each hunting season, the foursome reunite in the woods of Maine. This year, a stranger stumbles into their camp, disoriented, mumbling something about lights in the sky. His incoherent ravings prove to be disturbingly prescient. Before long, these men will be plunged into a horrifying struggle with a creature from another world. Their only chance of survival is locked in their shared past-and in the dreamcatcher.

This sci-fi thriller was amazing. Recommended for any sci-fi fan or even horror or King fans. Simply an amazing ride.

Connections with other King works

  • The novel takes place in Derry, Maine, sites of the classics It and Insomnia.
  • Two characters find the remains of a standpipe with a plaque honoring the members of the Losers Club from It, along with graffiti stating "PENNYWISE LIVES!"
  • Deep Cut Road is also a landmark in Stephen King's novel Under The Dome.

Author guidance for This work

RejectedDarkness As the summary and title say, this is a journal of every book I've read since May 28, 2011, or the last full week of my sophomore school year. In here, you'll find summaries and reviews of these books with a different format than my other book reviews (see "Books I've Read-School Year 2010-11.") So, I hope you enjoy!
