Okay, so today I went to church, as I do every Sunday. But this time it was different.
You see, I am not comfortable at all praying out loud for people, and I may never be completely okay with it. But this Sunday, I started doing prayer for my adult-friend's Sunday School class for 5 year olds. She said that they absolutely just love everything you pray.
Even though I believed her, I was still nervous to do it. I went in this morning, and I prayed for them to start off the session. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I mean, yes, I didn't pray as good as I possibly could, but that was only because I was nervous. I started doing this so that I could get more comfortable around people when I pray.
If you aren't comfortable when praying around people, then I suggest you should do what I did. It's so much better praying in front of young kids. Here's what the bible says about how you should pray:
"I always thank my God for you because of the grace God has given you in Christ Jesus."~ 1 Corinthians 1:4
"Pray in the Spirit at all times with all kinds of prayers, asking for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready and never give up. Always pray for all God's people."~Ephesians 6:18
"So when you pray, you should pray like this: 'Our Father in heaven, may your name always be kept holy. May your kingdom come and what you want be done, here on earth as it is in heaven. Give us the food we need for each day. Forgive us for our sins, just as we have forgiven those who sinned against us. And do not cause us to be tempted, but save us from the Evil One.' [The kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours forever. Amen.]" ~Matthew 6:9-13
"So what should I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind. I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind." ~1 Corinthians 14:15
"But when you ask God, you must believe and not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like a wave in the sea, blown up and down by the wind." ~ James 1:6
What we should pray for:
"Give an offering to show thanks to God. Give God Most High what you have promised. Call to me in times of trouble. I will save you, and you will honor me." ~ Psalm 50:14-15
"Please, Lord, save us; please, Lord, give us success." ~ Psalm 118:25
"Pray for peace in Jerusalem: "May those who love her be safe." ~ Psalm 122:6
"Brothers and sisters, the thing I want most is for all the Jews to be saved. That is my prayer to God." ~ Romans 10:1
"as the Scripture says, "Anyone who calls on the Lord will be saved." ~ Romans 10:13
Who you should pray for:
" Brothers and sisters, I beg you to help me in my work by praying to God for me. Do this because of our Lord Jesus and the love that the Holy Spirit gives us." ~ Romans 15:30
"And you can help us with your prayers. Then many people will give thanks for us—that God blessed us because of their many prayers." ~ 2 Corinthians 1:11
" First, I tell you to pray for all people, asking God for what they need and being thankful to him. Pray for rulers and for all who have authority so that we can have quiet and peaceful lives full of worship and respect for God." ~ 1 Timothy 2:1-2
