Real by Kendrick Lamar: because family matters.
Kendrick Lamar's album: Good Kid, m.a.a.d. City tells a story of young Kendrick on the streets of Compton. Real brings up the closing acts of the album, after Kendrick makes terrible decisions to drink too much one night, along with the death of a good friend. The lyrics itself doesn't pertain too much to the theme, but towards the end of the song, there is a skit with Kendrick's father speaking to a voicemail. His dad says, "Sorry about your homeboy, but don't learn the hard way like I did. Any[one] can kill a man, doesn't make them a real [person]. Real is family, real is God." Nothing like bringing family back together again.
