Me and Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin

Most thought provoking lyrics: I would trade a thousand tomorrows for a single yesterday

There is nothing crueler than someone leaving unexpectedly and without warning. The narrator speaks of a lost love named Bobby McGee and the time they spent together. People leave. That's a cold hard fact of life. But sometimes people aren't meant to stay in your life forever. They're meant to stay long enough to teach us something. One day, we will move on. We just have to be brave enough to make it through the crippling loneliness of their departure. Each day, we will think about them a little less and a little less, until one day comes where we go the entire day without thinking about them. And then we have escaped the infinite pain of loneliness.
