Taking The Heat
"Oh no, not you!" Madison hissed, pulling him to his feet. "I know another way out, they can explain themselves to the police." She pulled him around the corner of a shelf and ran further into the library.
They ran around stacks and past filing cabinets and quiet rooms until they reached an old looking door. She pulled it open and started down the steps.
Brian hesitated.
She looked back up at him from the gloom. "Come on, what are you waiting for?"
"Uh... Are you sure-" He started.
"Unless you want to spend the next two hours explaining what happened here to the police, we need to get out of here before they find us." Madison watched him, intently. "Trust me."
He nodded and followed her down the old, rickety staircase.
Forget them. Madison thought. They turned on the oven, they can take the heat.
