"Charlotte? Charlotte, hi, it's Lili. What's wrong with Rylee? Faith hasn't stopped crying and even Leon's been crying too, is she okay?"
"Okay? IS SHE OKAY?! So, Faith didn't tell you, huh?" She, too, whimpered quietly at the end.
"No, please don't be angry, I just wanted to see if she was alright, hun," said Lili, trying to calm her down.
"No. She's dead. All dead. My little girl! Dead! Fourteen years old.. It's just too young.."
"Dead? Wh-what? This isn't funny, Charlotte, this is not funny. Stop messing around. Why has Faith been crying?"
"Because Rylee died!"
"Lastnight?" Lili's eyes widened, she felt sick, she'd began to cry herself.
"I - I - yes. And oh, Lili, it's all my fault! I -"
"No. I need to see you. I can't just let you be there in all this - oh, god. I'll be over in ten minutes, babe. I'll make you a hot chocolate and we can have biscuits and you can tell me everything. Okay?"
"Yeah, thanks. Um.. Okay, bye.." Lili had heard her scream, a bloodcurdling scream of emotional agony, just before she hung up.
"Leon, please, make sure she doesn't do anything stupid. I'm trusting you to look after her. I know this is equally as hard for you, but I trust you. I'm going over to see Charlotte. She's a mess," Lili stuttered. "I'll be back soo - soon.."
And after her mumbled apologies, she ran out of the door, slid into the car, and drove.
