As Long As You Can Make A Promise

many nights

with the moon going down

and the sun going up

and they talked

and he told her about the overwhelming darkness

and how sometimes, he was scared of it

so she gave him a gift:

millions of tiny little cages of rays of sunlight,

to hang in the night sky

as lanterns.

and he thanked her even as her gift

began to light up the abyss

that he had stared fearfully in

as the conditions of night

became daunting.

and he was no longer scared

of the inky blackness.

and he worried

that he would not be able

to keep his promise.

The End
