“Angie, I don’t think this is working out,” Derek said. “I think we should be done.”
“I agree! We have done nothing but make a huge mess!” Angie agreed.
“Let’s order pizza or something.”
“Okay, that’s the last time we try to cook a meal!”
“How’s it going in… What have you two done to my kitchen?” Allison walked in the kitchen and saw the mess that Angie and Derek had made.
“Sorry, Mrs. Anderson,” Derek said.
“Oh, it’s fine. I will help clean up. And, Derek, please call me Allison.”
The three of them began to clean the kitchen. Lukas, Alex, Aden, Andrew, Nancy, Suzanna and Janna were all in the living room. Angie still wasn’t talking to Nancy because of the text she had found on Nancy’s phone from Andrew. Andrew was still afraid that Derek was going to hurt Angie. Nancy walked into the kitchen and saw that it was a huge mess. “Do you guys want some help with that?” Nancy asked.
“No, we are fine, thanks,” Angie replied.
“This could take an hour if the three of you are the only ones working on it.”
“I said we are fine, Nancy. Now get out of the kitchen!” Angie raised her voice.
“Okay, I’ll go,” Nancy walked out of the kitchen.
Angie turned to her mom and Derek. They were both staring at her, “What?”
“You didn’t have to be so mean. What’s the matter with you two? You have been acting like you hate her since lunch yesterday,” Derek said.
“No, I just think we can clean this up ourselves,” Angie lied.
“It wouldn’t have hurt to have help,” Allison said.
“We are doing fine cleaning up by ourselves,” Angie insisted. “I’m sorry, I just… I…” Angie put down the rag in her hand and ran upstairs.
“What is her problem?” Allison asked Derek.
“I don’t know. Do you mind if I go check on her?” Derek wasn’t sure if he was allowed upstairs alone with Angie.
“Yeah, that’s fine. I’ll finish cleaning up.”
Derek headed upstairs. He had never been to Angie’s house before so he didn’t know where her room was, until he saw the sign that ANGIE”S ROOM. “Hey, babe, you in there?” he opened the door.
“Yeah, Come on in,” Angie said. She was sitting on her bed.
Derek went in and sat next to her. “What’s the matter?”
“Nancy, she’s just… well, she kind of knows, about you and your dad.”
“Whoa, wait what?”
“I swear I don’t know how she found out!”
“Now you know why I didn’t want anyone to know about this! Who knows who she told!”
“Well, she told Andrew,” Derek didn’t say anything after that. “Let’s just get through dinner and go from there.” Angie kissed Derek. Then she got up and opened her door.
Alex was standing outside her door. “What are you doing, Anderson?” Derek asked.
"Being annoying,” Angie said.
“What are you doing alone with a boy in your room?” Alex asked.
“If I may interrupt, I let them come up here,” Allison said. “Dinner’s here.”
“What do you mean here?” Alex asked.
“Derek ordered pizza.”
“Oh, well aren’t you a hero,” Alex looked over at Derek and rolled his eyes. Then he walked out.
