In the eyes of a child, the world is such a fascinating place. Outside the protected walls of their carefully structured lives, there is so much for them to learn and discover. They have hopes and dreams. They come home after school, pouting to their perfect, angelic mothers about the kid that stole their milk. They will imagine with you, a perfect world, where no one gets hurt, where humanity is unbreakable. Those sweet innocent eyes can break your heart in two.

My world shattered into pieces at the fragile age of 8. My much older brother had been diagnosed with lung cancer. He never smoked a day in his life.
