6:15 didn’t come fast enough and I found myself going back through Raine memories, the first and last place I wanted to be. And yet, there I was.
The first time I met Raine was filled with judgment that I’d take back one day. I labeled him as unimportant and someone not worth my time. I was dead wrong.
I remember the first words Raine said to me. "Hey sexy." That should have been enough of a sign ...
I remember the first day Raine assaulted me.
I was standing next to his locker while he fetched some books before lunchtime. He was babbling on about Ella and how he thought it was getting to the moment when he really had a chance.
I said nothing of course.
“I think I just gotta make her jealous,” were the words that made me actually made attention to his words.
“What are you talking about?” I asked, interested.
“Well, you know. I just need some girl to flirt around with to make Ella jealous.”
“Go find someone then. Every girl in the grade wants you.”
“And I want you.” He said with a laugh, not giving me enough time to tell if he was being sarcastic or not. Suddenly, Ella walked by, completely ignoring Raine. He nodded at my still-in-shock face as if he was about to make a move.
“No don’t.” I whispered and before I knew it he was on top of me, humping and pumping. Ella was watching from the corner of her eye as Raine forced his body against mine like we were at a night club. “Raine.” I pushed him away, embarrassed that everyone was looking at us.
And then Ella said two words that probably brightened up his entire day, “Typical manwh*re.” She giggled and then strolled away, hugging her books to her chest.
I slapped Raine’s shoulder with a quiet snicker of excitement. I didn’t like what he was doing but I liked feeling his body pressed against me. I didn’t like that he was using me for Ella but I liked having him close. And I didn’t like him knowing that I liked him but he did and he used that to his advantage.
My only regret: always being one step behind his next move.
