Sequel to "The Last Fairground" :)
Ronaldo was sat in a corridor, the noise of the gunshot still echoing through his mind. He had killed that man, an innocent man who had done no wrong. Wrong place, wrong time.
"Not my problem." He mumbled under his breath with a smile.
With a sigh, Eloise sat beside him.
"Tough day?" He offered without even looking at her.
"Shot a man." She giggled. "He fell into a crater. Woops."
"Just another day." They agreed with a solemn nod. Both of them looked to the double doors in front of them. They were shut, blocked by two men with larger guns than Ronaldo was allowed. They had both been called to an important meeting, both of which knew very little about who they were going to see.
The two soldiers placed a hand to their right ears, pressing the earpieces further into their ears to heighten the sound. They both nodded in unison, moving to open the doors.
"Ronaldo. Eloise. Enter." It was a loud, ominous voice that was calling to them.
They slowly paced in to the large meeting room and were surprised to see nobody else in there.
"Hello?" Ronaldo called out. "Anyone there?"
"I don't like wasting my time." Eloise sounded frustrated. "So come out, come out, wherever you are."
A shot rang through the room, making them both jump. They turned to see a mad standing in the shadows, his gun raised and aimed at the wall behind them. Something didn't ring true though, something that took a while for them to notice.
The gun was not a real gun.
"You two are our top field agents. We have a special mission for you."
The gun was a hand. A person's hand that was holding the form of a gun.
"How did you do that?" Ronaldo asked, his voice shaking in shock.
"You need not bother yourself with that." The shadow responded.
"Tell me." Eloise had raised her gun and was preparing to fire. Her voice wavered like her hand, the weapon suddenly feeling heavy. "Tell me!"
With that shout, she pulled the trigger, but the shadow did not budge.
"What the hell is going on here?" Ronaldo yelled.
"I am a representative of the Bloodless Gun. You take your orders from me. Now. You have a mission. A mission that you cannot say no to."
They both looked at the shadow in fear and apprehension. He held his hand up again, making it look like a gun.
"If you say no, then you know too much. And we all know what happens to people who know something they shouldn't do."
He pressed his thumb against the rest of his hand, acting like a trigger. A shot flew from his fingers, narrowly missing Eloise's head.
"We want you to go recruiting." The shadow explained. "We need soldiers for our army."
