waning gibbous

i see you moon, through trees and clouds
not blocked as i thought you would be tonight
and rippling water beneath my feet flows
and tries to calm me
as it seems i am,
yet through the silence,
'soothing' ripples of water begin to crash
and the sound positions itself in my head
moon now blocked from sore eyes
darkness fills those holes
i turn away from the ripples and walk on.
alone for now
