“Why would they want you. Is it because of the book?” Renee asked before I could.
He nodded slowly. “And this.” he said lifting the hem of his shirt to reveal a worn leather sheath on the belt of his jeans. He pulled out a fatal looking knife. The handle was encrusted with blood red rubies, the blade held a shiny luster to it, as if it had just come from the blacksmith's.
“Where did you get that?” I asked.
Sawyer laughed bitterly, “You wouldn't believe me if I told you.”
I stared curiously at him for a long moment. For the first time I realized I had no idea who he was anymore.
“ Go, take Renee to the van, I don't want you to see this.” He waved us off. Ren grasped my hand even tighter, her nails digging into my skin.
I noticed William laying not too far from my parents. A tray of dirty dished spilled out on the floor around him. Unlike my parents his eyes were wide open, in a petrified shock. Ohter than that his appearance was unharmed. How are they going to explain this to his parents? I wondered. I stole a quick moment, to close poor William's eyes. It's not right, him dieing this young, this way. I placed a chaste kiss on his lips. Something I never had the gull to do when he was alive.
