I heard her screams.
This satisfied me to my very core. A smile tugged at my lips and I stared down at the blank piece of paper. I wouldn’t go back to see her until I finished the note. The pen hovered in my hand and I started to write.
Dear mom and dad,
I know that when you find this note, you’ll have a lot of questions. I can only tell you that I’m sorry and I love you.
I always left them short and simple.
I stared at the door, and beyond that a long stretch of hallway, then to the room that held my girl, tied to a chair with restraints. The tranquilizer had worn off some time ago and now she was alert.
Alert, terrified, and absolutely panicked.
My smile widened just a bit as I signed the suicide note, folded it up, and stuck it in the envelope that was next to me. Then I scrawled the address on the front and stood up.
Her agony called to me and I was going to answer.
