The Surface

The two Bladers, stood there. Their masked faces plain.

Nul was quietly sobbing as Morthor's claws dug into his shoulder blade.

"Well, Elmi, your time is up," Morthor said, removing his hand from Nuls shoulder, and transferring both his hands to his head, "In five seconds i will snap his neck, and then the bladers will, without hesitation, kill you,"

My blood was running cold, my face dry with tears and blood. I sickened myself with a thought than crossed my mind.

Run, it had said, leave him and protect the band.

Nul looked at me with screaming eyes.

"Five,"

I froze, feeling useless half hanging out of the pod door.

"Four,"

Nul was sobbing now.

"Three,"

Morthor watched me with sharp, evil eyes.

"Two,"

The Bladers stood there, dead as statues, their blades hanging limply by their sides.

"One,"

If you want me to tell you exactly what happens next, i doubt i'll ever be able to. One minute, Morthor was shifting into position to break Nul's neck, the next i was standing in front of him, the two Bladers dead on opposite sides of the room, with Nul behind me.

Morthor was on the floor, nursing a gash in his arm.

"Elmi!," I heard a voice. Nul. "Come on!"

Nul was in the Pod. Before Morthor could find his feet, i had run across the hangar and dived into the pod.

The door hissed shut as i entered.

"BIO ORGANISMS DETECTED," A cold, only just feminine voice declared, "SIGNATURES CONFIRMED AS ELMI SALARIN LARILL AND NUL PARUN LARILL, COMMENCING PRE PROGRAMMED FLIGHT,"

Before i knew what was happening, the Pod jolted into life. Through the door, i could hear Morthor screaming and yelling. The giant pane of glass in the front of the pod filled with words and numbers, but behind it, the huge door opened. Revealing the sky.

Then the Pod threw itself out of the Hangar, leaving Morthor's horrific curses and threats, as we moved at speeds i had never experienced before away from the City.

The End
