Under The Waterfall

Something I wrote when I was like 12, it is officially the shortest thing I've ever written, it's 142 words, so excuse the vagueness.

Over the side of the cliff the water fell, rocketing down to the river below, where she was waiting - just waiting - to make her move. The shadows of the dark looming trees were pressed towards her, trying to suffocate her. If she could find him, back at the camp; back at safety then...

But that hope looked a dream away...

She slowly tried to sidestep; out, away from the trees, but there was no chance she could pass unnoticed. So she waited... And waited...

She hoped it wouldn’t notice her, the creature, the monster but it was no use. It could sense her every breath, her every heartbeat, her every movement and it knew exactly where she was...

In the air was no sound. In the sky were no clouds...

She accepted there was no hope... and then...

The End
