Goodbyes and Memories

Gabriella was looking out of the cockpit intensely, following the trail of the thread into the distance as they travelled to whatever was waiting at the other end. So far, they were past the Atlantic and heading into Russia. The gradient of the thread was pointing increasingly downwards, they were getting close.

She looked back at Michael laid flat in the back of the craft. He was sleeping though how she wasn't sure. She was so excited she couldn't even begin to think about sleeping and this wasn't even her thing, it was Michael's. How he could sleep through this amazed her. She continued staring through the window and directed the Neutral to head downwards, following the slope of the thread. As she returned her focus to the window again, she felt a memory fighting to reach the surface, as if it had suddenly risen from the bottom of a deep, deep ocean.

"They're building another Triad!" She shouted, suddenly.

The Neutral turned around and looked at her and the weird, resonating voice of Triad issued from it's mouth-grill.

"What did you just say?"

"They're building another Triad, the demons. I don't know why I never mentioned it until now, I just didn't remember!"

"The demon and it's possession of you must have suppressed your memory. It is quite a secret to keep. Hmm, another Triad, one on the side of the demons. Intriguing.

"What will happen if there are two Triads? Can you fight it?"

"I don't know. I assume it will be as I am, have the same faculties. It would make sense that it would try and stop me from filtering the Aether, so that demons can get through. Do you know when this is going to happen?"

"No, I don't think so. I don't know, maybe. Maybe it will come back."

"Then it's too late. Things are most likely already underway. Unless we can find them and stop them, there is no way to stop this from happening."

"Then what do we do?"

"We do nothing, we continue doing what we are doing. It is all we can do. I will inform anyone that is capable of helping."

"I'm so sorry Triad. I couldn't remember, I just couldn't!"

"Worry not child. I am not so easily defeated." The grill emitted some static and the Neutral spoke in it's usual monotone. "Where to?"

Gabriella composed herself and worked out the bearing, indicating it on the control panel. "That way."

* * * * *

A beautiful, naked woman strode into the meeting room and sat down as the others came in. Her long hair hung down over her breasts, concealing her nipples.

Gerald was the first to arrive. "We both have some news to announce it seems. The interrogation went well? I presume you didn't want to announce your sex change."

The woman spoke. "Yes, the interrogation went well. I have some interesting news - what did you want to announce?"

"Triad just sent us a message. It's contents was most interesting and if it pans out, we could be in for a lot of trouble. By the way, what should I call you now? Arthur doesn't really befit someone of your...." Gerald looked the woman up and down, "...physique."

"You can call me Ursula, like before."

"Very well. By the way, Felicity wont be joining us" Gerald said as the other entered. "You managed to upset her rather badly."

Ursula rolled her eyes. "I'm game for round two if she is."

Matt sat down and raised an eye brow. "Mind if I watch?"

Claire gave him a withering look and he quickly clamped his mouth shut.

"Ursula, do you want to go first?"

Ursula nodded and stood up. "I managed to get some intel from the demon. Apparently, they are building..."

Gerald interrupted. "...another Triad."

Ursula looked dumbstruck. "You knew?"

"No, but that's what I just heard from Triad. It seems we have some investigating to do, one Triad is quite enough and that when it's fighting to stop demons getting through. Now another one... one on the demons side. Well, it doesn't bare thinking about. We need to stop this before it happens."

Ursula got up and moved to leave.

"Where do you think you're going? We've got to come up with a plan." Claire said.

"Let her go." Gerald said. "We can take care of this on our own."

"Thanks Gerald. Sorry guys, but I'm out, like I was meant to be last time. This time it's going to stick."

"But now? Don't you care? Don't you realise what's at stake?"

"Do I care? Ask Felicity." Ursula as she walked out the door.

When Ursula reached the exit, she found Felicity waiting for her.

"I ought to kill you for what you're doing. You're nothing but a traitor, your no better than the thigns we hunt."

"Whatever, get out of my way."

Felicity stepped up to Ursula, looking her in the face. "If I didn't know Gerald would freak, you'd be dead now.  Go on then, leave. And don't let me ever see your face again."

"I'm trying to furball, but something keeps getting in my way!" Ursula yelled as she rammed her forehead into the bridge of Felicity's nose, breaking it with a sickening crunch.

Felicity gasped, more from the shock then the pain. "You bloody stupid bi-"

"Now, now. Language, pussy cat. Thanks for the good bye."

Confidently, Ursula strode into the flesh of the exit and let it carry her back up to the surface. Within a few minutes she was back inside Max.

"Where are we going Ursula?" Max asked.

"We're going to find Michael." Ursula answered. "The second Triad, the demons. He's at the centre of this somehow. It all comes back to him. I've got a feeling he's going to need our help."

"How will we find him, Ursula?"

"Check your memory banks, you'll find the details for a tracking device in there. I planted it before he left, but I didn't think I'd have to use it, he wasn't my problem. Until now. Always be prepared, Max. Always be prepared."

Max groaned and took off, flying to the East.

"So where are we headed Max?" Ursula asked.

"We are headed to Russia."

The End
