What Do You See?Mature

“Are you okay? You seem to be having trouble continuing.”
“I.. I’m fine… It’s nothing.”
“It doesn’t seem like nothing. You can talk to me, you know. That is why we are here after all.”
“I know. What do you see?”

“Me. What do you see when you look at me?”
“I see a troubled young man who is more mature than his actions suggest.”
“What else. What else do you see?”
“Well… I’m not exactly sure.”
“What do you mean you’re not sure? You are here to help me, and you are supposed to be able to read me! Now tell me what you see!”
“Please sit down, and don’t raise your voice again. Good. Now why do you want to know what I see when I look at you?”
“Because you are like me in a way. You read people and help them with their troubles, and you should be able to do what I do. Do you know what it is like to tell the people around you what you see but be totally incapable of finding out what they see in you? They are too afraid or stupid to read me, or just don’t feel like they would be right. They worry about what I will think of them, and that I will be angry with them, but they just don’t get it! I need to know what they see, I need to know who I am!”
“Here, have some water. There you go, now drink up, it’s just water. Good. Now, why do you need to know what people see when they see you? Is it something to do with the true big picture?”
“No, it is about me. I need to know what people see because I need to know what people see. It is as simple as that. If people would just be honest with me, I would not have so much trouble with my anger. I wouldn’t need to hide it away and hope that it doesn’t explode when people are around.”
“I see. I believe I am like you in that aspect, where I feel a need to know what people see in me. But it is not a real need, you must see that. It is not something that will honestly affect your life.”
“Shut up! Yes it is something that affects my life! I have made it so! I need to know, because by knowing I am able to master myself far better than I can now. And I know I have mastery over myself, don’t say I don’t. I have decided to let my anger and frustration show because I hope that someone will see me! I let myself go so that someone, anyone, will pay attention to me! I have lived on the outside for so long, and it is my turn to have a friend!”
“What did I just say? Don’t raise your voice at me, I don’t like it. Oh don’t leave now, what good will that do you?”
“What good does staying here do? You are a typical human, blind, weak, and stumbling along searching for the truth. I guess you won’t learn how my story ends, now will you?

The End
