Odd One OutMature

I get up out of the chair and go to my room. I can tell Rai and Spark don't like me doing this every evening. Why is everyone pairing up? When this happens in books, everyone pairs up. I'm the odd one out. Spark gets Ryan, Rai gets Falcon. Stars and angels. Honestly. I raise my hand, palm up and try to relax. A small flame appears there, and grows larger as I concentrate on it. Accidentally I set the duvet on fire, and quickly concentrate on water. A small amount spouts from my hand and extinguishes the flames. I breathe a sigh of relief and leave the house to go for a walk. I try elemental skills, digging a small hole using earth powers and filling it with water. I hear the sound of wings behind me and turn, expecting to see Ryan or Falcon. There's nothing there, I stare around but there's no one there.

"Ryan? Falcon? Rai? Spark?" I say into the shadows.

"None of them, I'm afraid, you've used up all you're guesses and got it wrong," says a voice that sounds like fingernails on a blackboard. Someone steps forward. I look the unknown angel up and down, he has yellow hair and red eyes, both crackling with electricity, but not like Falcon's. The most noticeable difference, though, is his wings. They're black, like the midnight sky, matching the shade of my hair and eyes perfectly.

"Who are you?" I ask, my mouth dry. This doesn't feel good.

"My name, it is Thano, and I wouldn't try anything, Ebony Night Star. I really wouldn't." His wings grow bigger, and I realise that he was hiding the full extent of his power. Then he grabs me and takes off into the night. I scream but we're too high for anyone to hear, except maybe Ryan or Falcon. As the clouds fall away beneath me, I pass out from lack of oxygen. I only hope someone realises.

The End
