Night ShiftMature

It was two in the morning when the security camera started to glitch. Frank and Ed sat in the security office eating junk food when Frank noticed the glitch. "The hell is wrong with this stupid thing?" he asked through a mouthful of Cheez-Its. "Wasn't it just installed, like, a week ago?" He shoveled another handful into his mouth.

"I dunno," Ed replied. "Maybe it's faulty wiring. Ya know how old this friggin' place is." Ed finished his statement with a gulp of 7-Up.

Frank placed more of the crackers in his mouth and noticed something in the monitor. There was a black, cloud-like substance floating behind a Honda Civic. Eh, must be the camera, he thought. Then, for a split second, the monitor flashed the image of a demon. Frank jumped back, screaming. "What the flying hell was that!?" he yelled.

"What?" asked Ed, cocking his head toward him.

"There was something! It looked like . . . like a . . . devil!"

"Man, what are you smoking?"

"I swear! Rewind the thing!"

Ed clicked the rewind button on the tape. A moment passed, and he too saw the demon. "What?" he whispered.

"See? Told you!" Frank exclaimed.

"What's that black smoke behind that car?" he asked, pointing at the Civic and taking a sip of soda.

"Don't know. Think it might be just a shadow."

"It's moving, man."

Frank looked at the monitor. "Holy God . . ." he muttered, stuffing a Cheez-It into his mouth.

"Let's check it out," Ed suggested to him.

"Are you insane?"

"Oh, stop being a little wuss." Ed pulled out his flashlight. "Let's go." He got up and left the room. Frank soon followed.

They arrived at the space where the Honda was parked and looked around. Frank stood in front of it while Ed checked behind it. "Well," Ed said, "whatever is was, it's gone. No devils either."

"Come on, Ed," Frank whined, "I'm getting the creeps." He turned and looked at him. "C'mon."

Ed stared at him and witnessed the demon they had seen creep up behind Frank and slit his throat with a fingernail. The demon smiled a wide, sharp toothed grin as Frank's body fell to the floor, lifeless and limp.

"What- . . . how? . . ." Ed stammered. He dropped his flashlight, completely frozen in fear. He then felt something coil around his leg and violently pull. He fell face first to the pavement, feeling his nose bust open in a burst of blood. He glanced behind him. The black smoke had his leg and was pulling him into a dark void. The last sound Ed heard was the demon laughing a horrible and evil laugh.

The End.

The End
