First Sight, First Love

I’ll never forget the first time I saw her. It was a cold autumn night, a few days after Halloween, right before Christmas decorations began littering the shop windows.

I was walking alone through the city. I did that a lot during the holidays. They have always been a sad time for me; a perennial bachelor who could never seem to find the right woman. Not for lack of trying, but maybe for lack of… something. I don’t know, I’ve just never been that good with women. Until her.

She was standing just inside the book store window, a wide-eyed look of excitement on her face. Something about her open-mouthed smile touched me, and I couldn’t resist going into the store and introducing myself. After a few minutes of conversation, I took her back my apartment.

That was a magical night. We made love and talked until the sun came up. I made breakfast in bed, and we’ve been together ever since.

Now, blowing her up again after patching yet another hole, I remember that day I first saw her in that book store window, and wish to hell I could remember where it was so I could get a replacement.

The End
