I landed in Sri Lanka at the end of July. The humid air choked my throat as I stepped off the plane and onto the hot tarmac below. I boarded a crowded bus, dripping with sweat, and got off to collect my luggage and meet my grandma at the exit into my new life.
I was staying with my grandmother in a rented annexe. It was an okay house but I knew I would keep to my room mainly. Polished concrete floor, peeling walls and a mattress to sleep on. An old TV in the corner and some cupboards to store my things. It sounds horrible but it was perfect for me. They had even set up a router in my grandmas room so I could use the internet.
Life was going to be such a change here.
