Enduring The DayMature

"Lara hurry up and get ready for school! Your sisters and I are waiting!" I quickly jumped out of bed and pulled clothes and raced down the ramp to where my mother stood with her hands on her hips.

"I woke you up a half hour ago you should've been dressed fifteen minutes ago." She scolded me. I bit my wobbling bottom lip and nodded.
"I'm sorry mum." I whispered softly. She shook her head and grabbed me by the upper arm and dragged me to the car. She out me in the back seat and strode around to the front and got in, slamming the door closed. My sisters climbed in and buckled up their seatbelts.

I knew there was something wrong this morning, but no one dared speak of what it was. I was too afraid to ask because I know how mum will react.
"Mum I forgot my bag." I sad softly. She sighed.
"Too bad, you have all your books at school so it won't matter." She said as she reversed the car out of the driveway. I hung my lip.
"But that means I'll have no lunch for school." I whined. she shrugged.
"Well your fault for getting uo too late, now you're going to have to miss out." I went silent as tears dribbled down my face.

The drive to school was quiet with my mum driving angrily and my sisters doing their best to ignore me. I looked down at my grubby hands and bit my lip hard to keep quiet as tears dripped onto my hands.

When we reached the school, my sisters lurched out of the car with me slowly following behind.
"Tessa do you have spare lunch I can have?"  I asked her. She laughed.
"You heard what mum said, you have to starve. Now go away, my friends are coming and I don't want you near them, you stink." I turned and sprinted away from Tessa with tears blurring my vision. I ran into my class cloakbay and sat down and cried into my hands.

I don't know how long I sat there before the sounds of footsteps alerted me that I wasn't alone any longer. I looked up and saw Patrice and Janelle frowning down at me.
"Ew, I thought I smelt something gross." Patrice said with a disgusted look on her face.

I cringed and backed deeper into the corner to avoid her. She pulled her water bottle out from her bag and walked over to me. I looked up at her, knowing what she was going to do but I didn't want to do a thing to stop her.
She unscrewed the lid and poured the water out from her bottle on top of my head. She stood back and laughed.
"Now you look and smell like a drowned rat!" Janelle bursted out laughing with Patrice. I Stood up and quickly ran out and ended up bumping into my teacher.

"Lara, why are you all wet?" She asked me. I shuffled back slightly and shrugged. she shook her head and gently grabbed my shoulder and steered me into the classroom. She turned to her desk and handed me a jacket.
"Use this to dry off a bit." I nodded and took it from her.
As I began to dry off my stomach made a loud grumbling noise. She frowned.
"Have you eaten today?" I dipped my head and shook it.

"Oh you poor thing." She said and reached into her bag and pulled out a peach, breadroll and rollup.
She handed them over to me. I took them with a whispered thanks and dug in.
Miss Lees walked around behind me and continued drying my hair as I ate.
My hands finally stopped shaking and tears dried. I felt as if I were cared for.
But the moment was only fleeting before I had to endure the rest of the day.

The End
