The Watch-guard’s Journal, December 25th

Merry Christmas, Sunrise. I hope you’ve enjoyed the violence, the depravity that’s on your streets every night. I hope you enjoy being a police state because someone tried to stand up for what was right.

All because of me.


This is my fault. Murder. Greed. Corruption. I tried to stop it. Couldn’t. Can’t. No secrets. Nothing but the truth. And it didn’t work. It didn’t work it didn’t work it didn’t-

[Scream, followed by sound of glass breaking]


[More glass breaking]

[Sound of door opening, Donald’s wife calls]

Jane : Don, are you okay? We heard the- Oh, God! What happened here?

Donald : Jane, I-

Jane : The mirror’s shattered! And there’s broken glass everywhere! And, and, you’re covered in beer!

Donald : I couldn’t do it, Jane! I couldn’t do it. I thought I could help this city, I thought I could make a difference, but I’m just another loser! I’ll always be just another loser. I can’t do-

Jane : Enough! I’ve had it! You know how many bills you’ve left unpaid because of your stupid, childish fantasy world? You know how much I’ve had to worry about you? What am I supposed to say when Todd asks me where you are the whole day? And now. Now you get drunk in the basement while my parents are visiting us for Christmas? That’s it! I’m done with you, Don.

Donald : Wait, wait, Jane, hold on. Jane, come back. Jane!

[Sound of door slamming shut]
