The Watch-guard’s Journal, December 21st

The more I become the Watch-guard, the more I see this town. You know, really see it. That ugly part of it that nobody talks about. 

Rape. Murder. Thievery. For every mugging I stop, there’s two beatings going on. For every beating, there’s a murder or rape. For every person I save, there’s three that I can’t.

But it’s better this way. No secrets. Just the truth. And if I’m going to fight it, I’ve got to know everything about it. Got to know.

I’m back. Just remembered to put Todd to sleep. When I look at him, he reminds me of what I’m fighting for. I want him to grow up safe. Normal.

I can’t believe I never saw this before I found the Watch. Or maybe I did, but I never did anything about it because I couldn’t. But I must have, right? There must have been something I could have-
