My tribute to the entire superhero genre, chock-full of comic book references and shout-outs. Donald Cabrey is a small-time comedian working at Abe's Abbey, a little bar in the town of Sunrise. All in all, a very average individual. One day, he finds a mysterious object that gives him unnatural powers. With it, he becomes The Watch-Guard, Sunrise's new protector. Also my entry to the Well-Spun Tales project, under the theme "Obsession".

SUNRISE : In a scene straight out of a comic book, a raid conducted on our local bank was derailed by a costumed vigilante. According to witness reports, the gang leader demanded that the bank patrons hand over their valuables while his associates headed for the vault.

The vigilante crashed through the bank’s window and attacked the leader, disabling him immediately.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” said an anonymous patron. “He must have broke that guy’s arm in three places!”

The remaining three criminals reportedly fired at the vigilante with automatic weapons, without effect.

“I’m telling you, he ain’t human!” claims security guard Frank Cimella. “Those guys blast away at him, and this ‘hero’ don’t even flinch!”

After injuring two more of the bank robbers, the last one surrendered. The costumed man then fled the scene.

Of the four men involved in the bank raid, three of them have been hospitalized, with the fourth currently imprisoned.

A police investigation of the crime scene revealed deformed bullets on the ground, suggesting that the costumed hero was wearing some sort of bulletproof vest.

The costumed vigilante’s identity is currently unknown.
