13. Complications [3/6]

Seth had made me feel way better about my dad. All I knew is, even though he was practically my boyfriend now, he was turning into my best friend too! I mean Ruth is still a good friend but Seth knew my secrets and I knew his. I received a call from Sakura as I walked into my bedroom in a good mood.

"Hey Filomena!" She said.

"Hey! What's up?" I asked casually back.

"Well I was thinking of coming over to your house for dinner cause my parents are going to be gone till midnight and I'm starved already."

I glanced at the clock. It was 6:45 p.m.

"Sure but…" I drifted off.

"But what?" Sakura asked curiously.

I bit my lip as I said, "Seth's going to be here."

I knew Sakura pretty well and how she felt about Seth so I wasn't surprised at her reaction.

"What?!" She shrieked on the other side of the phone.

"Well his family had to leave for a few days and well, my mom being his aunt and all said that he can stay with us," I lied to her and it came out all quickly.

There was silence on the other side for a few minutes and then Sakura mumbled, "Fine, bye," and hung up on me.

I shrugged and went downstairs to tell my family (Seth included) about the news.

"You guys, friend's coming over for dinner!"

"Yay! Is it Ruth?" Johnny yelled, excited.

"Nope, it's a new friend. But you'll like her," I said.

Ray and Seth shot me a murderous look. I guess they didn't like girls coming over.

"What?" I asked.

They looked away and ignored me. Boys…

"Okay then Filomena. What should I make for your friend?" Mom asked enthusiastically.

I shrugged and then the door bell rang.

"I'll get that!" I yelled and ran to the front door.

I opened it and saw Sakura grinning at me.

"We haven't even started cooking yet! You came too early for dinner!" I whined.

"I came here to help! Excuse me for being nice once in a while, unlike you!" She snapped at me.

I heard Johnny yell and he came flying towards us.

"This is my little brother, Johnny, and he was overexcited to meet you," I said to Sakura as Johnny hid behind my head, staring at Sakura through his long baby eyelashes.

"Hi Johnny. How are you?" Sakura asked him.

"Fine. You're pretty," Johnny said.

I rolled my eyes. Seriously, that's what he says to every single girl he meets.

"You're really handsome too Johnny!" Sakura said.

I rolled my eyes again and said, gripping his shoulder, "Come on Johnny, we have to go make dinner! You can talk to Sakura later!"

"Okay," Johnny mumbled but flew behind me and held Sakura's hand like he was a long lost puppy. He's such a playboy. No wonder he's just like Ray!

I lead them to the kitchen where my family waited. As soon as we walked in, something strange happened. Ray went as pale as a ghost when he saw her and she went red.

"You!" They yelled at each other at the same time.

"Now, Ray. Be more welcoming to our guests!"

Ray ignored her and said, "But that's not it! I know this girl! Saki, Salu, Saku something…"

"Sakura!" She yelled her name for Ray to know.

"Yeah Sakura! What are you doing here?!"

"You guys know each other?" I asked, looking from one to the other.

"Yeah we do! She was the girl I told you about! The one who threatened me in VoiceHill!" Ray yelled.

Everyone stared at her. "You should know better than to be scared of an 8th grader at that time, Ray," Sakura said coolly.

Now I turned on Ray and said, "Ah-hah! That's true too!"

"But still…" Ray faded off as he saw Johnny fly to Sakura's support.

"You are so cool for threatening a boy, especially my brother!" Johnny said, flying on top of Sakura's head.

"I can't believe you're supporting her!" Ray muttered.

There was silence for a long time and I started getting uncomfortable until mom broke the silence.

"Okay Sakura, do you mind making spaghetti with me?" Mom asked.

"Sure, I'd love to," Sakura said and was about to follow Mom into the kitchen but before she did, she shot me a meaningful look, glared at Ray and Seth and walked into the kitchen with Johnny by her side.

I stared at Ray. "What's your problem?" I demanded, poking him in the chest.

Ray was about to say something back but I stormed up to my room and closed the door. I whirled around to go and lie down on my bed but then I bumped into Seth.

"Geez! You too!" I yelled and pushed away Seth but he wrapped his hand around my wrist and pulled me to him.

"And will you stop reacting the same way to everything all the time?!" Seth hissed.

"Fine," I croaked. I pushed him away again and he let me go this time, then I curled up on my bed.

"Look, the reason why I came up here wasn't to torture you or anything. Sakura has something interesting to tell you."

I glared at Seth. But seriously, what the hell was he talking about? Right that minute, Sakura barged into my room.

"Seth, Filomena, I need to tell you guys something! It's about Tommy and Ruth!" Sakura said, breathing hard.

I stared at Seth. What would she want to tell me about Tommy and Ruth?

"It's something…romantic…" She scoffed out, her voice going pitchy in the 'romantic' part.

"Romantic?" I asked. Maybe they were a couple!

Seth was grinning, excited from head to toe. He must've already known this 'secret' from before.

"Tommy and Ruth like…" Sakura dragged on.

"Each other?" I asked.

"Nope…Tommy likes you and Ruth likes Seth," Sakura said. It came out all fast.

I dropped the pillow I was holding onto the floor. I thought I was going to scream my head off but I bit my tongue, ignoring the blood that came out. So that was why they were so uncomfortable and depressed that day when they figured out Seth and I were a couple. I felt this horrible sensation spread from my chest to my whole body. I had done a really bad mistake.

"Look, you guys better talk to them and don't hang around each other much when they're around," Sakura said and left me on my bed, feeling confused and stunned. The next minute, I was hyperventilating.

The End
